One of the favorite snacks of all Indonesians, siomay is a dish that can be enjoyed anytime. Not only that, siomay is also easy to make and can even be a business idea to sell from home, my friend!
Let’s take a look at the recipe below for making siomay.
Ingredients needed to make siomay:
500 gr boneless chicken thigh
2 cloves of garlic
1 egg white
10 tbsp / 100 gr tapioca flour
1/2-1 tsp salt
1 tsp powdered broth
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp pepper
2 tbsp sesame oil
1 tbsp oyster sauce
Ready-to-use siomay wrappers
How to make siomay:
- First, prepare the ready-to-use siomay wrappers.
- Blend the chicken meat and garlic using a blender. Once halfway smooth, add the egg white to the blender, then blend again until smooth.
- Then, add the chicken meat to the blender and blend all the ingredients until smooth or according to your preference.
- Once smooth, transfer the mixture from the blender to a bowl or container. Then, add tapioca flour, salt, sugar, pepper, sesame oil, oyster sauce, and soy sauce. Mix all the ingredients until well combined.
- Next, take about 25 g of the mixture and wrap it using the prepared siomay wrappers. Repeat until all the filling mixture is used.
- The next step is to steam all the siomay. To prevent sticking, grease the steamer with cooking oil. Then, steam the siomay for about 20 minutes.
- After 20 minutes, the siomay is ready to be served.
Now, once it’s done, you can choose to make various types of accompaniments to go with the siomay you made! From peanut sauce, dipping sambal, to trendy mentai sauce, these versatile siomay can be enjoyed with a variety of side dishes. Enjoy trying it out!
